Steps yoiu should take when preparing for a Natural Disaster

  • Create a written/visual list of all property and belongings taht hold the potential of being damaged in the event of a hurricane or catastrophe. Be sure to store these physical records (receipts, photos and/or videos) in a safe location
  • Make sure to pick up and secure any loose items around the property ie... outdoor furniture, flower pots, ect..
  • Move all valuables to upper floors.
  • Shelter your pets! Thousands of pets each year are stranded and displaced following a natural disaster. Chipping a pet can help with search efforts if seperation does occur.
  • Secure windows with sorm shutters, awning, or plywood.
  • Be sure you have an emergency supply of food and water, as well as a first aid kit, cell phone, flashlight, radio, and extra clothing.\
  • Heed evacuation notices from public authorities, and make certain you know the evacuation route. If evacuated, shut off electrictiy, gas, and water to your home to help mitigate damages.
  • Lock all windows and doors.
